Rich-P drops new music video for hit single ‘Go Up’

HARLEM, NY – Rich-P is a veteran talent from Harlem, New York whose body of work has already led to success across the U.S. But with his new music video for his hit single “Go Up,” he is set to catapult to global stardom.

Born Julian Perkins, the naturally gifted musician started rapping when he was only 5 years old. By age 11, he was recording in the studio and at age 13, he became part of a group that developed three CDs – all of which saw some success. His career really took off in 2010 when he was featured on VladTV, 2DopeBoyz, HipHopSince1987, Genius, CollegeDJ and more. That same year, he released his mixtape, “The Inauguration,” which he quickly followed up with “The Oval Office” and “The Assassination,” both of which circulated throughout the national hip-hop market. His most recent project, “Kickin It With My Pops,” dropped in mid-2018 and he’s been riding its waves of success ever since.

Part of that success has led to major performance opportunities including opening for headliners Kendrick Lamar, Cyhi Da Prynce, Jadakiss, Fabolous Big Sean, Teyana Taylor and Juelz Santana. He also was able to headline some of his own shows in 2017 and 2018. And now with the music video for “Go Up” he said he’s ready to take things to the next level.

“This song is a nice little radio record with a very melodic vibe on the chorus,” he said. “It is very melody driven but the verses are very lyrical. It’s a very triumphant record. It represents going from the bottom and acknowledging that you’re making progress and moving on and moving up. It’s celebrating the progress and the milestones, the small steps along the way that get you to the big prize at the end. It has a vibrant beat too, which is what gives it that good radio feel.”

One of the things that make Rich-P stand out from others in the music industry is his lyrical ability and song structure. He considers the subject matter of a song to be the most important element, and the content of what he’s talking about always has a message. But he delivers that message in a way that people can feel, and he does so in ways that take it to deeper levels than a lot of the surface-scratching tunes he said he hears in popular music today.

“I cut deeper than most artists can with the music that I make,” he said. “I’m rapping about life and what’s going on in the world at the moment. I’m talking about the struggles of the people. There are always more people struggling than those doing well whether financially or mentally. There have always been more poor people than rich. And I try to be the voice of the majority. I want to reach people on another level by talking about what they’re living through. I’m making the soundtrack to people’s lives.”

Rich-P said fans can expect more good music to drop soon, including a new single called “Clout” that he said should drop in the next couple of weeks. A music video for that single should follow not long after that.

DMV-based rapper/producer Santa Sallet and France-based producer Nemizzo are MSP, presenting their new single “Big Hands”. Sallet has been busy showcasing his brand of East Coast braggadocious rap across a slew of recent singles like “Camouflage” (watch on Youtube), “I Get Money” (watch on Youtube), “Championship Ring” (watch on Youtube) and “Chinese Funk” (watch on Youtube) in preparation for the release of Plutography, Sallet’s forthcoming album which blends salsa beats, southern trap, and eastern jazz with classic and conventional rap samples, reflecting Sallet’s international upbringing across South Africa, Dominica and the US. Sallet is planning a series of full-length releases, among them C.R.E.A.M. which recounts his journey from broke to financially free, and Women and R.A.P. which describe his pursuit of success in relationships and the music industry respectively. “This is the song that really started MSP Tunes,” Santa says. “Nemizzo had laid down his verse and I was like, let me try something on this and I just talked about what I knew. What I think is funny, the outro is actually me recording a bunch of potential beat tags. There was a miscommunication and Nemizzo extended the beat and made it the outro. I like it though lol.” Check out Santa Sallet merch here.
